“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”

  – Lao Tzu

and I’d like to share my personal development journey with you, which ultimately led to my success as a Mindset and Peak Performance Coach.

I knew from a very young age that I wanted to help people. One of my earliest inspirations was Rosa Parks who, in 1955, courageously challenged segregation laws in the USA by refusing to give up her seat on the bus to a white person. She became a catalyst for change by following her highest ideals and this really resonated with me.

who embark on a path of service, I was an idealist who also had my own challenges. I grew up in a loving home, one of two daughters to parents who ran a family business. I was though a highly sensitive child and, despite my mother’s encouragement, I really struggled academically. My sister, in contrast, was a high-achiever, very talented (especially musically), and lauded as an intellectual.

In contrast to my sister, my primary school teacher labelled me as stupid and incapable of learning, which not only crushed my self-esteem but also affected the way other people saw me. I internalised these opinions and messages until they became my beliefs. I felt misunderstood and judged by others before I’d even opened my mouth. Alongside these emotional issues, I also struggled with what I now know is dyslexia, as well as being a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP). Back then, there was no awareness of these conditions or any support, either in the classroom or at home.

It wasn’t until some major events happened in my private life that my life found a way to change…

Unable to function ‘professionally’ through these difficult times, I decided to take some time out of working life. This was a big step for me, a leap of faith if you like, with no income and my confidence taking a big hit.

I ended up travelling for a year, but the biggest journey I took was into myself.  During this time, I visited retreats and monasteries, and learned meditation and other skills I never dreamed I would learn. This opened up my spirit and I experienced a floating river inside myself that I discovered could take me anywhere. I had, in effect, discovered my true essence.

I had the space and time then to ‘reinvent’ myself.

From that moment on, I decided to share this feeling I had discovered, and dedicate my life to facilitating other people’s awareness and consciousness. This is when Tummo Coaching was born, back in 2006.

Desperate to escape other people’s judgments, I hung out with the tough kids and unconsciously conformed to all their negative expectations. People labelled me as rebellious, which hurt me a great deal because it fed into all of my inner conflicts. Like many HSPs, I tuned into other people’s feelings without even realising it, which overwhelmed me and added to my own anxieties. I worked hard to prove myself in education, but people still clung on to their preconceptions of me. It would be years before I recognised that other people’s projections do not dictate my behaviour. Despite my own problems, I always helped the weakest children at school, perhaps because I understood what it meant to be vulnerable.

can often excel in their careers because they are driven individuals. That was certainly true for me. To the outside observer I had it all – a high-flying job with the salary to match, a house most people only dream of, a top-of-the-range car, and a fantastic social life. However, if you looked beneath the surface you would have seen that I was struggling. I had all the trappings of success but no one to share them with and no sense of purpose in my life.

I was devastated when my mother died. I was only 25 and she was my rock, the one person I could always turn to for emotional support. After she died, I felt lost and empty inside. Not long after this my father became ill and died, and then my sister died shortly afterwards. It was a very dark chapter of my life.

I buried my grief in my work because I’d unconsciously picked up core beliefs that my needs mattered less than other people’s, and that expressing emotions was a weakness. I focused instead on my job, to dull the pain, and even got promoted. However, what we suppress eventually finds a means of release. After my sister died, my health suffered and I was unable to articulate my need for support. Consequently, my abilities at work were called into question, which ultimately led to me being fired.

After losing my family and my job, I went into crisis and realised that things needed to change. (I had already sensed this before my family became ill, but I wasn’t ready to acknowledge it then). So, I did something radical – I packed up the remnants of my old life and boarded a plane for Asia on a journey of discovery.

I had no plan, other than to heal and to grow. I visited monasteries and spiritual retreats in search of answers and a better way to live. Although I felt I had begun to change, life still had much to teach me. I barely survived an accident in Vietnam, and had to deal with the aftermath on my own. This was my second awakening and this reconnected me with my childhood inspiration to help others. However, first I had to help myself. I needed to work through my recovery and finally take responsibility for my life. It was time to face my inner demons and practice what I knew to be true – that mastery of my mindset was the key to unlocking my full potential.

In the beginning it was a lonely path, working on my confidence and reinforcing new patterns, but I gradually I began to see progress in my inner understanding and changes in my outer reality. Over the next weeks and months, I committed myself to learning principles and techniques to utterly transform my life, turning it from someone else’s script into a life of my design.

Having unlocked the keys

Having unlocked the keys, tools and resources necessary, I embarked on a mission to build a community of people who felt the same passion and drive to live the life that they were created to live, and impact the world in the most amazing way.

Over the last 10 years, I have continued experimenting on myself and others to better understand how we can fast track changes in our lives and accelerate our own success in order to transform our lives.

The world needs you to take ownership of your life and to live the life that you were created to live. It’s time! In fact, it is my belief that many problems the world faces would be solved if people like you and me just lived in tune with our highest understanding – the way we were meant to.

This journey is not easy

This journey is not easy – it’s confronting, it’s challenging and it requires nothing less than complete and utter dedication. But believe me, the results are worth it. I have gone beyond surviving – now I am thriving. As I continued to build on my successes, I finally found lasting happiness and vitality.

I realised that I could help other people liberate themselves from their self-imposed limitations through my success formula. That became the seed for your roadmap to Light Your Inner Fire. I have helped hundreds of people apply its principles and connect to their own life purpose. If you’re ready to start making changes, I’m here to support you.

It’s impossible to be involved with so many wonderful people and not want to give something back to the local communities in which I’ve spent time.

That’s why I love to be involved in charity work wherever possible. This includes founding a children’s home in Delhi, India. This is a foundation that aims to provide better education for young, local children.
